The Clarence B. Jones Impact Award honors the game-changing effects of smart, strategic communications. It is given annually by The Communications Network to a social sector individual, team, or organization whose work best represents the extraordinary impact of our craft.

Deadline for Nominations, May 15, 2020

Our Mission

We aim to showcase the best of social sector communications. Why? To create evidence that communications professionals in our field can use to make the case for investing more deeply in strategic communications. By celebrating impact, we hope to offer models that those working in communications in good can use to create winning strategies of their own.

“Dr. Clarence B. Jones shares the values of The Communications Network and is a paragon of what communications for good can mobilize. We created the Jones Award to honor him and recognize the game-changing effect strategic communications can have across the globe. Impact is at the core of this award.

— Jade Floyd, The Case Foundation

The Jones Award: It’s About Impact

What does impact in social sector communications look like? Can you measure it?

Yes, you can measure impact. Communications work that creates impact will:

  1. Elevate and advance issues

  2. Influence attitudes and beliefs

  3. Inspire action in pursuit of social change

The social sector communicators who make up The Communications Network strive to achieve those goals every day.

The Clarence B. Jones Impact Award from The Communications Network showcases and honors the best of what communications in our sector looks like so that others may learn from it, recreate it, and invest more deeply in the transformative power of communications for good.

The award is named in honor of Dr. Clarence B. Jones, a hero of the Civil Rights Movement who helped draft Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, and a paragon of what communications for good can accomplish.
