Juliana Bustamante Reyes has spent more than 20 years using law to advance human rights and peace.
She served as Director of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law at Colombia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has trained more than 1,500 public officials in human rights and raised over USD $500,000 for rights and peace projects. She also teaches, writes a column, and does research on peacebuilding, transitional justice, and memory.
Her newest project is Vértice, an organization she leads on foreign policy, human rights, and peacebuilding.

Lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in social justice issues, leading initiatives focused on human rights, inclusion, and peacebuilding. Expert in foreign policy on human rights, peacebuilding, and transitional justice with an emphasis on memory, humanitarian, and social affairs.
Have led numerous multidisciplinary teams with skills in teambuilding and promoting collaborative work with social commitment. Have mobilized and advanced human rights agendas through direct work with civil society, vulnerable populations, and key stakeholders, including embassies, state entities, activists, social, non-governmental, and international organizations, as well as funders, among others. With a teaching profile, contribute to the creation of spaces for dialogue on complex issues. Have trained more than 1,500 public officials in human rights. Have skills in project funding have resulted in her securing more than USD $500,000. Columnist, professor, academic, researcher, and consultant for national and international organizations. Currently, she leads a new organization named Vértice that works on the intersection of foreign policy with human rights and peace building.
