Flora Pereira has 20 years of experience in journalism, research, activism, and global communication. She is Chief Impact and Engagement Officer at the Pulitzer Center, where she leads engagement, education, and impact strategy across the U.S., Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
She worked with the UN Environment Programme, FAO, and the Climate and Land Use Alliance, and founded Afreaka, a media and education NGO in Brazil that challenged stereotypes about Africa. She has written more than 400 articles and five educational books, and she is an interdisciplinary researcher at the University of Coimbra, where her research touches on postcolonialism, ecology, and global citizenship.
Flora advises on global initiatives like the Five Forests for People and Climate Collaborative and speaks at events such as the Perugia International Journalism Festival and Festival Gabo. Her work focuses on making sure powerful reporting helps shape decisions, laws, and public understanding.
