Write Better, Work Smarter: Practical AI Skills for Impact Professionals

Part of our ongoing series to support your journey toward a career of impact.

Whether you're writing blogs, emails, research briefs, reports, newsletters, proposals, or anything else, the right AI approach can help you save significant time while improving clarity and quality. Used well, AI becomes a thought partner that helps you shape ideas, structure arguments, and stay true to your voice.

At PCDN, dozens of internal and external custom projects have been built using tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and others. These projects have helped our team save hundreds of hours—streamlining newsletter creation, improving research summaries, speeding up report drafting, and supporting collaborative content work.

What the Workshop Covers

From Idea to Publication

Brainstorm with a thought partner
Explore angles for blogs, research, reports, newsletters, and email campaigns using advanced prompting and voice tools.

Draft and strengthen content
Use AI for outlines, synthesis, and initial drafts, then refine with your expertise to ensure clarity and engagement.

Edit and elevate
Improve language, structure, grammar, and tone while maintaining authenticity through human oversight.

The Upsides and the Limits

See where AI increases speed, accuracy, and creativity—and where it can hallucinate, miss context, or reinforce bias.

Learn active strategies to reduce errors:
• verify sources
• add your own insights
• teach AI about your goals and audiences

Understand how to avoid outsourcing too much thinking. AI works best as a creative partner, not a replacement.

What You'll Learn

Part 1: AI for Better Writing—Make It Yours

  • Use tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Lex.page, and voice features for any writing task—blogs, reports, emails, newsletters, proposals, and more.
    • Avoid generic, robotic content by grounding outputs in your voice and context.
    • Strengthen your writing skills by uncovering new angles, refining language, and improving arguments.
    • Know when AI is helpful (drafting, editing, summarizing) and when human judgment is essential (fact-checking, emotional nuance, strategy).

What You'll Learn

Part 2: Train AI to Understand Your Work

  • Build custom AI projects in ChatGPT or Perplexity for your specific tasks and goals.
    • Upload past work and instructions so the tools better understand your role, organization, and sector.
    • Reduce hallucinations by providing high-quality sources, requesting citations, reviewing outputs, and adjusting accuracy settings.
    • Get better results by asking clearer questions and staying actively engaged.

Note: Building Custom projects typically require a paid account with one of the major AI chatbots.
