At PCDN we were planning on launching a group career coaching option to help even more people advance careers of impact.
Then, COVID-19 happened. So here is the deal: We are opening four decades of expertise and to help you. Once a week. For free.
Join us every week viaZoom for a highly interactive session and come with questions, your challenges, or favorite tips on building a career of social impact. We will do our best to guide you in this time of crisis.
When: We will be online at Noon Eastern Standard time every Thursday for the foreseeable future as long as there is interest from our community. You only need to register once to participate (see below for a full Questions & Answers on this initiative.)
Focus of the Sessions: Most weeks we will pick a theme based on the feedback from our community, but we will welcome a broad range of questions. For our Session on Thursday August 27th at 12 pm EST Miranda Williamson will be our guest on Applying to Grad School for a Career of Impact. Miranda (full bio below) has over 10 years working on innovation in higher education, student services & service learning. She currently is Director of Search at Watson Institute and previously was the Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services at University of San Diego Kroc School of Peace Studies.
This will be a very interactive session in which Miranda will offer guidance of how to make the right decision to attend graduate school or not, how to find the right programs for one’s interest and most importantly key tips for increasing one’s chances of a successful application for social impact focused programs. She will also share strong insights from her many years working in admissions, recruiting and program development in higher education.
Miranda Williamson has spent her entire adult life in higher education, first as a student and later as an administrator. She positioned her career to focus on social justice oriented work within higher education, working in various roles, such as Event Coordinator for the Women's Resource Center, Student Leaders for Service Coordinator for Portland State University, Assistant Director of Recruitment and Outreach for University of San Diego, and Director of Search for Watson Institute. Through her role at the University of San Diego Kroc School of Peace Studies and Watson Institute, she became intimately familiar with unique aspects and details important to admission committees for social justice oriented programs specifically. Believing strongly in building pathways to higher education, Miranda began hosting webinars focused on demystifying grad school applications. She believes that all grad school applicants should be presented with the tools to succeed.
