PCDN is pleased to announce our upcoming Social Change Career Podcast Livestream.

In the session, A career advancing responsible use of data for inclusive development and digital transformation of countries, Karla Yee Amezaga will discuss the essential role of data in responsible and inclusive development policies.

In an increasingly data-rich world, Karla will share her professional experiences in data policy, analytics and in projects in collaboration with different sectors and global stakeholders. All of this focused on promoting the effective and trustworthy use of data to inform decision making and contribute to the inclusive development and digital transformation of countries.

She will highlight the key competencies needed to harness the power of data. She will also address some of the various career paths available in the public, private and non-profit sectors, and why professionals should consider acquiring basic data skills to improve their job prospects.

Finally, she will share some stories about the impact of data for development and where she sees the field going in the next decade.

BIO

Karla Yee Amezaga is originally from Mexico. She is passionate about data policy issues, data privacy, geospatial analysis, and exploring how data can promote digital transformation of governments, trusted cross-sector collaboration, better user-centric services, and inclusive and sustainable development around the world. Currently, she is Platform Curator for Data Policy at the World Economic Forum in San Francisco, California. Prior to joining the Forum, Karla worked at the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank in Washington, D.C., supporting data analysis, digital transformation of governments and statistical capacity building. Before that, she worked at the OECD, Ashoka Changemakers, and the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Karla holds a master’s degree in International Affairs from the University of California - San Diego (UCSD), and bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and in International Relations from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM).
