About Sowmya  

Sowmya Ayyar is a Senior Research Scholar at the Malaviya Center for Peace Research at Banaras Hindu University, India, where she explores the role of Yogini Sanghas in diplomacy and peacebuilding. She is also the founder of Prafull Oorja Charitable Foundation, which trains yoga therapists to assist vulnerable communities across India. Through her art, poetry, and music, Sowmya celebrates the rich cultural narratives surrounding women’s contributions across time. In 2025, she will launch her podcast, “A World of Women,” focusing on global women’s thought leadership.
