Journalists whose reporting or innovations are making an impact on their communities can be nominated for an award.
The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) has decided to reopen the nominations for the 2020 ICFJ Knight International Journalism Award in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The awards are seeking nominees whose pioneering coverage or media innovations around COVID-19 have excelled and had a tremendous impact.
Nominees can be reporters, editors, technologists, media managers, citizen journalists or bloggers who are from and work in Africa, Asia, Central/Eastern Europe, Latin America/Caribbean or the Middle East.
The award reflects the mission of ICFJ’s Knight Fellowships, which create and spread news innovation to better engage communities and improve lives. The program is supported by John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Award winners will receive a trip to the United States, where they will be honored at ICFJ’s Awards Dinner on Nov. 12, 2020.
Candidates who meet the awards criteria may nominate themselves.
The deadline is April 5.
