The European Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA)

Admissions to the 2020/2021 edition of the European Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA) are open!

  • First Round Deadline: 3 February 2020
  • Second Round Deadline: 30 March 2020

EMA was created with the support of the European Union and 41 participating universities from all EU member states.

Course Programme

EMA is both a residential and an exchange programme: the first semester from September 2020 to January 2021 is organised at the Global Campus of Human Rights premises in Venice and the second semester from February to July 2021 takes place in one of the EMA participating universities within the member states of the European Union.

Students are taught by leading academics representing the EMA universities, experts and representatives of international organisations and NGOs while studying in a multicultural environment. The curriculum prepares participants for working in national, international, governmental, inter-governmental and non-governmental organisations as well as research institutions dealing with human rights and democratisation.

Admission Requirements

EMA is open to EU and non-EU citizens. The criteria adopted during the selection process are academic ability and background, professional/volunteer experience, and motivation. Applicants are required to hold a university degree of a high standard in a field relevant to human rights, including disciplines in Law, Social Sciences and Humanities, and must have a minimum of 180 ECTS (Bachelor/General Degree). Certified fluency in English is an admission requirement to the programme.
