How sport and fitness can change the world

How can sports and fitness help change the world? A five time ironman finisher has set bigger goals than crushing a long-distance feat. He is using fitness as a tool to address issues of homelessness and substance abuse but like a good runner and athlete, Wylie Belasik went farther.

With his non-profit ULIFTU he is addressing a huge obstacle that folks returning from incarceration and/or in the process of recovery face: employment opportunities. Belasik is training and making excellent coaches who then go to their communities and spread health and fitness.

This is how you change the world, one burpee at a time…..

*burpee: its a whole body exercise that will leave you on the floor

For the inaugural episode of  Season 6  Wylie explains how with the work of his non-profit ULIFTU, he is closing the gap between fitness and unemployment. To hear the episode click here. This episode is brought to you by The Rotary Peace Fellowship (more info is below).

A 5 times Ironman finisher, twice qualified for the World Championship; raced the Olympic development field in Chicago.  Currently he is the owner of Crossfit Subversus Gym in Philadelphia and he is a certified CrossFit coach.
