About the Senior Behavioral Scientist (Headspace for Work) at Headspace:
Headspace is looking for a Senior Behavioral Scientist to help us to deliver against our mission to create healthy and happy workplaces. Reporting to the Director of Behavioral Science, this individual will be a key part of the Headspace for Work team and will collaborate with stakeholders across the company to design and implement evidence-based interventions for Headspace’s business-to-business (B2B) customers. This individual will work with a cross-functional team to ensure that our product inspires, guides, and supports our members in living healthier and happier lives at work and at home.

Content, Product, and Service Innovation:

    • Be a partner in leading content innovation as we translate evidence-based interventions into content that inspires, guides, and supports our members to maintain and improve health in the workplace
    • Be the voice of behavioral science on a cross-functional product and content team working together to create evidence-based, engaging experiences for our members in B2B contexts
    • Work closely with our Design Research team to understand member needs, goals, and lived experiences to create product features and content that deliver member value and drive outcomes

Research Collaborations:

    • Work with the science team to define the scientific validation needs for Headspace for Work; partner with the science team and external collaborators to design and execute studies
    • Source and manage innovative (read: not necessarily academic) research collaborators to test B2B innovations and validate interventions
    • Partner with Content/Product teams to integrate scientific and design thinking processes to generate and prototype B2B research projects
    • Work with external collaborators to publish Headspace research, including peer-reviewed publications and white papers
    • Oversee and provide mentorship to junior research staff

Authentic Expertise:

    • Be, in your own right, an authentic expert in sustainable behavior change and integrate your knowledge of behavioral science in your work with content/product innovation
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the academic research related to workplace wellbeing, and guide our team to translate science and practice into innovative solutions for our B2B customers
    • Be the instigator that elicits bold new ideas, vision, and concrete feedback from internal and external authentic experts

What you’ve accomplished:

    • Master’s Degree in psychology, behavioral science, or closely related field; PhD/PsyD  preferred
    • 5+ years experience using evidence based behavior change interventions to help people improve mental and physical health
    • Comfort working in an early- or mid-stage company; readily adaptable to changing market and organizational requirements
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
    • Strong project management skills
    • Entrepreneurial work ethic
    • Ideal candidate has formal training in evidence-based interventions that integrate mindfulness as a key component of behavior change (e.g. ACT, MBCT, MBSR, etc.)
    • Ideal candidate has experience in digital health involving collaboration with product and content teams on a consumer facing product
    • Ideal candidate has experience designing and implementing research trials involving digital health interventions
