Bilingual Communications Consultant to Address Food Insecurity in Latin America
There are over 2 billion people in the world who suffer from food insecurity. It doesn’t have to be this way if we consider that over a third of the food that the world produces is wasted – food that is perfectly edible, but ends up discarded for reasons such as aesthetic or packaging defects, or because the food is about to expire.
MovingWorlds has partnered with Siemens Stiftung empowering.people Network to support a social enterprise based in Argentina using technology to address this problem. We are seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) communications professional to volunteer their expertise with this innovative social enterprise to help the local team advance its mission. All expenses will be covered for the selected candidate.

Description of the social enterprise and impact of the project:
We are a social enterprise dedicated to fighting malnutrition and food insecurity by rescuing food at risk of being wasted and distributing it in low income neighborhoods. We have developed technology to rescue food products from producers and retailers, and offer them online at 30% to 50% of their market price among soup kitchens in low income neighborhoods. We are currently operating in Argentina, Mexico and Puerto Rico, where we have delivered over 3 million plates of food to over 90,000 people.
Given our explosive growth in the last six months, we are seeking a communications expert to support us in developing a marketing and communications strategy. We started as a small organization that distributed food from small farmers in Argentina, and now we have clients and partners like the United Nations, the Clinton Foundation, Walmart, Marriott International and Siemens. We have never developed a communications strategy, and we feel we need it urgently to succeed at this scale.
This project aims to help us position our brand through the development of a communications strategy. The strategy should address how to tell the story of what we do and why we do it to a broad audience of stakeholders, as well as how to manage our presence in digital media channels to share that story. The selected candidate will also help upskill the local team to be able to carry out the communications strategy over the long-term. This project can be completed remotely.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in the marketing/communications space who has a good foundational understanding of digital media and storytelling. As we operate in Latin America, the work will be done in Spanish.

For the first 3 months of the project, a monthly stipend for expenses, such as internet bill, and any licenses that you need to use to perform the work. After that, if it’s the right fit, we hope to then extend a full-time paid job opportunity with us that can be 100% remote.
