The Coady International Institute is inviting applications for a Director of Programs. The Director of Programs plays the key administrative role in advancing the Institute’s programming priorities. These include offering on-campus, off-campus, online and blended courses, leading or supporting a diverse range of research (knowledge building) partnerships, community engagement and capacity building initiatives in Canada and around the world. This key leadership position contributes to the advancement of the Institute’s key themes of strengthening citizen leadership for building more: Inclusive Economies, Resilient Communities and Accountable Democracies. The Institute has a particular focus on several core constituencies: women, Indigenous and youth leaders around the world as well as leaders within underrepresented communities in Nova Scotia. The Director of Programs will also lead the Institute’s role in developing and implementing new education programs co-developed with other StFX departments in support of the University’s academic mission.

The incumbent’s knowledge and professional experience will align with Coady’s vision, mission, and values. The Director is responsible for ensuring the design and delivery of high quality, rigorous and relevant education programs. A dynamic, collaborative, and consultative leadership and management style is required to advance Coady’s Institutional Strategy as it pertains to the quality and rigour of on and off-campus education and blended learning programs. The position oversees a team of 8 direct reports and cross-team education program committees.

Key Administrative Functions and Responsibilities
-Active, supportive, and constructive member of the Institute’s senior leadership team
-Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality on and off campus education and blended learning programs
-Builds a culture of excellence for the design and delivery of quality programing
-Work closely with the senior leadership team to develop strategies to support a strategic portfolio of partnerships and projects that support research (knowledge building) and capacity building activities locally and globally
-Ensures management and financial accountability of education and project budgets
-Contributes to strategy development and implementation, and administrative oversight, including Coady’s education program and research, networking, knowledge-building activities as needed

The Ideal Candidate will have:
-Proven administrative skills in the development, management, and delivery of post-secondary educational and/or related programs
-Understanding of and experience with adult education pedagogy and practice; demonstrated capacity in curriculum design, teaching, leadership development, with an understanding of and commitment to participatory and transformative approaches
-Knowledge and experience related to one or more of Coady’s educational themes
-Demonstrated expertise in attracting, retaining, motivating, and managing professional staff
-Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills
-A PhD (preferred) or Master’s degree in a related field of study
-English fluency required, French and / or Spanish are an asset
